Placement Testing

Students who can’t be placed in college-level English or math based on the placement policy criteria will need to take a placement test.

Prior to a student enrolling in courses at NCC, placement in English and/or mathematics must first be determined. Course requirements in English and mathematics may vary depending a student’s program of study (major). NCC may use multiple methods to determine placement including:

  • Review of high school transcript

  • SAT scores

  • ACT scores (English only)

  • Advanced Placement (AP) test scores

  • Prior college course work

  • Accuplacer Placement Test

Details for the placement policy and guidelines on English and mathematics course placement can be found here.

Students who can’t be placed in English I (ENGL101) and/or college level mathematics based on a review of the available criteria outlined in the placement policy will need to take the English and/or mathematics placement test.

Placement testing is available in person at either the Bethlehem campus (College Center room 341) or Pocono campus (Keystone Hall room 103). Testing is on a walk-in basis; no appointment is required. Students may report for testing during the hours below:

Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Placement testing is also available remotely proctored through Zoom video conferencing. If you're interested in remote placement testing, complete this form.

If you cannot be placed into college level English or math, developmental courses may be necessary.
