What is Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment allows High School Juniors and Seniors to take college courses while earning transferable credits toward a future degree. In addition to being a cost-effective way to get ahead on college coursework, it prepares students for what to expect at the next level and sets them up for success in their future academic endeavors.
Tuition Cost
Dual Enrollment students receive a special reduced rate, making it more affordable to attain college credits.
Fall 2023 through Summer 2024 Rates:
The Northampton County resident rate is only $90/credit ($270 for a 3-credit course)
The Monroe County resident rate is $95/credit ($285 for a 3-credit course)
The Out-of-County rate is $110/credit ($330 for a 3-credit course)
The Out-of-State rate is $125/credit ($375 for a 3-credit course)
Most courses are 3 credits each. While Dual enrollment students only pay credit tuition fees and not any associated fees, they are still required to pay for the cost of textbooks and supplies needed for their classes.
Scholarship & Payment Options
Each year, NCC is able to award a limited number of scholarships to students who reside in Northampton and Monroe County and attend one of the following public schools: Bangor, East Stroudsburg North & South, Easton, Freedom, Liberty, Nazareth, Northampton, Pen Argyl, Pleasant Valley, Pocono Mountain East & West, Saucon Valley, Stroudsburg, & Wilson.
Scholarships cover the cost of one three credit class per year
Students should apply for the scholarship each semester (if not awarded for the previous semester)
Students can only receive one scholarship (covering one three credit course) per academic year as we try to offer this opportunity to as many students as possible
Students are notified by email prior to the start of the semester if they have been awarded a scholarship (August 1st for Fall and January 1st for Spring)
Students will not be notified if they did not receive a scholarship
If a student is awarded a scholarship, it will appear on the student's bill as "pending" until a few weeks into the semester
Students are still responsible for any and all books and supplies needed for the courses, but applying for scholarships is a great way to help reduce the cost of tuition.
Payment Options
While Dual Enrollment students are not eligible for Financial Aid, they can participate in a payment plan program. For more information on payment options, click here. Applying
Follow these steps to apply to NCC as a dual enrollment student:
Talk to your school counselor to see if you are eligible and learn about course options and times. If you’re a home-schooled student please refer to our FAQs below.
Watch this application video or review this application one-sheeter to help you complete your application correctly.
Apply to NCC (make sure you confirm your email address when creating your account).
Submit the FERPA & Approval Form.pdf with all signatures to [email protected] or return to your school counselor.
Have your high school send a copy of your official transcript to [email protected].
Look for your acceptance email from NCC. This is sent to the email you used for the application within 24 hours of applying — be sure to check your spam mailbox.
Log in to your Student Workday Portal to set up your student portal and create your new password. If you need help, watch this video.
Log into your NCC Email & check it often. This will be the only way NCC will communicate with you from now on. Watch this video for instructions on accessing your NCC email account.
If you have AP test results you would like to submit, send us an unofficial copy by logging in to your College Board account and downloading your Score Report. You can send your Score Report to [email protected]. Please include your full name and NCC ID in your email, and make sure your name appears clearly on your score report (it cannot be handwritten).
If you accidentally applied as a different major instead of high school dual enrollment, email [email protected] with your full name, NCC ID (included in your acceptance email), name of your HS and graduation year to let us know of this error.

Registering for Courses
Once you have applied and done all the above steps, you can either sign up for a Virtual Registration Session, which is a small group zoom session with our College Connections team, or watch our registration video and register on their own. Please allow 5-7 business days for your FERPA & Approval Form and transcript to be processed prior to attending a registration session.

Recommendations
Our College Connections Specialists recommend you start with what colleges call General Education courses: English 1 & 2, Introduction to Psychology, or Introduction to Communication. It's recommend to take 1-2 courses per semester, but this is a personal decision. Remember that you will be taking college-level courses which are a different workload than you have experienced before. Keep in mind your high school course load, activities, work, and also that each course has a financial cost including the cost of books/supplies. Additionally, we suggest working with your high school counselor, parent/guardian, prospective colleges and NCC advisor to determine the best NCC courses and confirming with your high school counselor if you will receive high school credit for any of their courses.
Pre-requisite Options
If you have not met the pre-requisite for the Dual Enrollment course you want to take, you can take our English and/or math placement test to possibly gain eligibility. Additionally, if you feel you are academically capable, you can submit an Override-Exemption in Workday that will be evaluated by NCC faculty. If approved you will be placed into the course in Workday. After submitting the request please allow 5-7 business days and then check your Workday portal course schedule. Honors Courses
NCC does offer a limited number of honors courses for Dual Enrollment students. You will need to apply using the application on our Honors Program page and be accepted before you can register for the honors sections of any course.
Changing Major After Graduating High School
Congrats on the decision to continue your education at NCC! Below are your next steps in your NCC journey.
Check your NCC email for important information often. For instruction on how to access your email and other resources, click here.
Complete the Change of Major Request in your Workday Student Portal. This prompts NCC in communicating with you as a future NCC degree seeking student. You will be assigned an Academic Advisor to assist you throughout this journey. To complete your Change of Major request, follow the steps below or refer to this quick reference guide.
From the homepage in your Workday Student Portal, click the “Academics” icon under “Applications”.
Under “Academic Records”, click “More” to expand list, and select “Change or Declare a New Major”
Create a Request – In the “Request Type choose “All” and choose “Request to declare or change my major” then click “OK”
Complete all fields on the next screen
When all questions on the form are answered, click “Submit”
Complete & Submit the FAFSA and PHEAA forms. Students can begin completing these forms Oct. 1st of their senior year. If you need help, please contact our Financial Aid department, and they will be happy to assist you.
Apply for NCC Scholarships. NCC has one of the largest community college scholarship programs in the country. Each year we award over 800 different scholarships to our students, so apply today! Typically, scholarships open in mid-spring for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters.
Register for a New Student Welcome Event. Visit our Welcome Events page to select a date. (These events are typically hosted in January and the summer months.)
Campus tours are also available for interested students and their families.
If you are a high school student who intended to enroll in the high school dual enrollment major but accidentally applied as a different major, simply email [email protected] with your full name, NCC ID (included in your acceptance email), name of your high school and graduation year to let us know of this error.
